Canadian factory sales were up by 2.1 per cent in March from February on higher motor vehicle sales, as well as petroleum and coal products, Statistics Canada said on Thursday.
Excluding vehicles and parts, manufacturing sales increased by 1.8 per cent.
Also, Canada added 61,700 jobs in April, the second straight month of robust jobs gains, led by hiring in the education and health services and construction sectors, according to another report released today from ADP.
The number of jobs added in March was revised up to 76,700 from 13,200, ADP said. The report, which is jointly developed with Moody’s Analytics, is derived from ADP’s payrolls data of about 40,000 companies.
