Larson Electronics has released an explosion proof hydrocarbon gas sensor with a Class I, Division 1 & 2 (Groups B, C, D) rating for combustible environments. The device is used to test and monitor levels of toxic gas in the air, which is applicable to hazardous locations and facilities that handle or process volatile gas. The EXP-SNR-TG-EC-ITS-ALG-HC200 is configured to uncover hydrocarbon vapors with a detection range of 0-200 ppm. Equipped with a sensor, amplifier and memory module, the compact unit offers non-digital, analog output (4-20 mA output range). An integral sensor holder keeps the device stable during use. For seamless monitoring, the explosion proof hydrocarbon sensor features an LCD graphic display. In 3-wire mode, a backlight is available for viewing in low-light environments.

Simple magnetic controls allow individuals to execute commands, view data, implement alarms and calibrate the unit without opening the sensor’s enclosure. This also reduces meticulous operation. An internal data logger stores previous gas measurements and readings. Using an external interface, individuals may download the data for storage, reporting or logging. Password protection is available for businesses concerned about security breaches and unwanted tampering.

The explosion proof hydrocarbon gas sensor is made out cast aluminum. A yellow housing ensures immediate and maximum detection of the device. The EXP-SNR-TG-EC-ITS-ALG-HC200 is designed for flammable environments with a temperature range of -25º to +55ºC. Examples of industrial work sites that require an explosion proof hydrocarbon gas sensor include the following: chemical processing plants, hydrogen storage facilities, butane extraction rooms, propane-based operations, facilities where methane is present and more.
