OCT 6: 2021 Cybersecurity Readiness – Resilience thru Active Defence

Don Horne

IPP/T’s Cybersecurity for the OT world free webinar will focus on giving executives, engineers and plant operations personnel an understanding of the vulnerabilities to their systems and how to minimize the disconnect between OT and IT environments.

Leading the discussion at 1 p.m. on October 6 will be Richard K. Peters (Rick), CSIO, Operational Technology North America.

Peters brings the Fortinet OT-CI team more than 37 years of cybersecurity and global partnering experience working across foreign, domestic, and commercial industry sectors at the National Security Agency (NSA).
As Fortinet’s Operational Technology North American CISO, he delivers cybersecurity defense solutions and insights for the OT/ICS/SCADA critical infrastructure environments.
Large or small, cyberattacks are making headlines and elevating executive attention toward cyber readiness. Preparing for, responding to and recovering from cyberattacks should be a strategic part of any business continuity plan.
As recent cyberattacks have demonstrated increased risk to both IT and operational technology (OT) environments, readiness equates to enforcement of rules and policies that provide the visibility, control and situational awareness to respond at the speed of business.
During this session, Peters will explore the research findings with a look at the disruption OT attacks have on critical business processes and explore security considerations for developing cyber resilience covering security fundamentals and readiness planning to protect your IT and OT environments.
Also taking part in the discussion are, Tyler Burke, Field Applications Specialist, mGuard Secure Cloud Admin., and Sean Bouchard, a principal at ICE Electrical Engineering.
Burke will be looking at why IT needs to work with OT, and some of the standards that can be used as guidelines by going over some specific incidents. He will also provide a few examples of how to layer in security and provide a framework for security by illustrating the roles and responsibilities for different groups from equipment vendors to integration and operation.
Bouchard, who specializes in Industrial Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure, specifically engineering and securing industrial control and power systems, will be talking about the implementation of cyber security and risk assessment, and about the “people part” of cyber security.
